Having opened its cellar door in an old 1950s woolshed last year, Wet Jacket Wines is a relaxed tasting experience. A heritage-steeped setting right at the mouth of the Gibbston Valley where one can stop in at the cellar door to sample the vineyard’s stellar range alongside a platter of the region’s finest artisan goods (the on-site cheese ageing room is an impeccable inclusion), the pinot noir, made from fruit grown just down the gorge, is sensational.
