Neilson’s Park, or Shark Beach as the actual beach is called, is an antidote to the hustle and bustle of Bondi Beach and Manly on a hot summer’s day. Situated in Vaucluse it’s on the harbour side, so misses out on the famous Sydney surf and also the heavy weekend traffic of the more famous beaches. The park flows down to the beach, so there’s plenty of tree shaded areas for napping out of the sun, BBQ zones and there’s even a shark net to protect against the swimmers from any sharp toothed visitors. On weekends the people watching is great, with 3 or 4 generations of families often camped out for the day in this sunny spot.
