It may be just a hop, skip and jump from my office, but Sokyo Lounge is not your typical after-work ‘local’. Located in the lobby of The Star hotel, this bar oozes sophisticated glamour yet surprisingly, there is nothing pretentious about it. On arrival you’ll be greeted by the charming bar staff and presented with list of cocktails, created with the heart of Japan in mind. The chilli-infused margarita is my first choice and it captivated all my senses, offering just the right amount of kick to the taste buds. With the constant aroma of scented candles and the music catering perfectly to the mood it has a fantastic ambience. If you feel like a change of scenery but don’t want to travel far, the hotel also offers two other great spots: Rock Lily and Cherry bar.
