Where Sydney meets Ibiza, The Island nails the right type of beach party vibe on the weekends.

Whoever came up with the idea for establishing a floating bar in the middle of Port Jackson certainly knows a shrewd idea when they’re struck with one. The moveable barge has literally been making waves since its inception last summer as a floating open air space that serves as something between your typical Balearic beach club (sans pool and instead surrounded ocean) and a good old antipodean knees-up.

A ticket to The Island includes your return water taxi from either Rose Bay or Double bay as well as a cocktail on arrival – booking a table is also highly advisable for those travelling as a troupe. Saturdays undoubtedly live up to the party vibe as expected while Sundays are ever so slightly more relaxed with many choosing to take a dip off the side. It should be warned however, that too much frivolity may well see you voted off The Island.
