This Wellington icon is now a standalone cafe. Formerly a Surf Lifesaving club turned classic dining destination, the Maranui Beach Cafe received a well-deserved renovation after being gutted by a house fire in 2009. Offering old-school milkshakes and fries and other cafe classic, the simple and easy menu is a popular haunt for locals and visitors alike. Its vintage feel takes you back to the days of rock n’ roll and the eclectic interior keeps guests well entertained. The beach side balcony view is also a serious drawcard.
This is a very popular destination so expect a wait and perhaps don’t go with an army of friends.
