If you’re after something outside of the norm — Thievery has come to the party as Sydney’s calling card for contemporary Middle Eastern cuisine. You can fairly expect the unexpected; creations such as hummus with burnt butter; Lebanese fried chicken with muhammara (a hot, peppery dip from Syria), fatoush with fried cauliflower, and raw beef nayyeh. The place is somehow cavernous with exposed, an open bar and a series of high tables. It’s not huge but it’s a great spot for a dose of something different.
