Sydney’s inner-city suburb of Chippendale recently welcomed the revival of the historic Old Clare Hotel as part of the new Kensington Street Precinct. The boutique hotel’s brand new rooftop is occupied by an open-air deck for drinking and dining as well as a pool, while the 62 refurbished rooms – some suites showcasing the pub’s old bars and others tucked high in the new loft – offer contemporary features. Undeniably adding to the allure of a stay here are the new and notable neighbouring restaurants – including British chef Jason Atherton’s Kensington Street Social, Clayton Well’s (Momofuku Seiobo, Quay) Automata, and Silvereye which will be helmed by Sam Miller (previously sous chef at the lauded Danish restaurant Noma) which takes up residence on the second floor of the Old Clare.
