Amidst the comings and goings of Manly Wharf, is a new dining destination from Sydney hospo stalwarts Merivale – Papi Chulo. Helmed by chefs Christopher Hogwarth and Patrick Friesen, who have a penchant for the hot and heady, Papi Chulo serves a veritable mash-up of smoked meat, all cooked over the wood fire for at least six hours creating an intense barbeque pit flavor that’s reminiscent of the American Deep South.
Extending their love affair with the Americas even further there’s also ceviche and empanadas on offer alongside sensational sticky pork ribs, golden hot wings and beef brisket. While frequent visitors to Sydney may not have Manly on their radar, this northern suburb is heating up with this bold new addition, because after all there’s no smoke without fire.
