Forgo the token Chinatown visit and instead give the lower profile Japantown some love. While it used to be a vast and rather forlorn district, the recent years have been kind and there’s loads of fun to be found here. Your first stop should be New People; it’s a glass-walled ultra-modern shrine to all things concerned with Japanese pop culture, complete with café, cinema, SUPERFROG art gallery and various boutiques stocking eclectic finds that are sure to provoke a few hoots from friends and family back home.
