Opening their doors in June of this year, Italian restaurant Chiara’s reputation naturally preceded itself as the latest venture from the Walker Evans Baker Restaurant Group – the same team responsible for Melbourne’s Bar Nacional and Long Shot. And it’s fair to say they’ve lived up to the hype delivering on contemporary Italian cuisine that’s comforting yet not overwhelmingly heavy.

Head chef, George Fowler has been sagely imported from Michelin-star awarded Pollen Street Social in London which explains a lot about the level of deliciousness at play here. Expect to see the classics of Italian flatbread, antipasti as well as more refined dishes including a stand out veal pasta. The large open space offers a dining al fresco in a sophisticated atmosphere that has already been established as a go-to for many a Melbournite.
