Nestled along the famed Herengracht (the Gentlemen’s Canal) and a leisurely wander from the city’s art lovers belt, six 17th and 18th century townhouses have been combined by GA Design to form the outstanding new Waldorf Astoria. The classically-influenced contemporary space boasts a Guerlain spa with an indoor pool (a particular rarity in Amsterdam) and an extensive garden where, like the New York flagship, the hotel plans to keep bees to produce their own honey.
