Having undergone an enforced reinvigoration after a fire tore through the original building in August 2016, the restaurant at Jack’s Point has returned, dare we say, better than before. With Chris Scott (previously executive chef at Rata) stepping into the role as head chef, the fresh menu reflects the unique and diverse flavours of Central Otago. Working to the seasons and leaning on the expertise of the region’s finest artisan producers and suppliers, the dishes cater to every palate and occasion. From generously loaded charcuterie platters to delicate shared plates, hearty mains and desserts (brûléed figs with hazelnut sponge anyone?), the fare is complemented by an exquisite wine list featuring many of Otago’s finest drops.
All enjoyed in the beautiful light-flooded restaurant that lies at the base of the striking Remarkables mountain range, it really doesn’t get much better than this. Open for breakfast and lunch daily, with dinner on Friday evenings, a visit to Jack’s Point should be on every Southern wanderers’ itinerary.
