The Amish show us how it’s done when it comes to eating well.

I always thought Amishness involved horse-driven buggies and ploughing your field in a suit. Turns out that it also involves sourcing the best, freshest and most remarkable groceries from the United States and around the world. It uses its small space with TARDIS-like ingenuity and also manages to fit in a deli, bakery and dining area. The range and calibre of meals available from its hot food and salad bars will help you understand why kitchens are fast becoming an optional extra in New York apartments, and a few moments spent looking round at your fellow shoppers will prove my contention that supermarkets are the best place for visitors to learn about the kind of people who live in an area and what they’re into.
